Charlie and Jane Ritchie moved to West Bagborough in the early 1990’s and spent the next 12 months restoring Bashfords to the superb standard you will find when you visit, offering totally modern comfort in a stunning 17th Century farmhouse.
Set in the beautiful Quantock Hills (one of the first areas to be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and easily accessible from all parts of the country, Bashfords offers the ideal centre for a stay in the area, whether you are keen walkers, cyclists, sightseers, or simply like to relax in comfort.
Bedrooms are large and beautifully furnished with a mix of antique and modern furniture, the guest sitting room has comfortable sofas, a large wood-burning stove, books and music. The whole house is hung with Charlie and Jane’s extensive collection of art and offers a slice of luxury in a rural idyll.
Guests breakfast around a massive pine table in the dining room. Regrettably, with effect from 1st May 2025, we are no longer offering guests an evening meal. There is, however, a wide range of country pubs in the immediate area, and a broader range of restaurants only a 20 minute drive away in Taunton and its surroundings.
